Halloween Safety Tips

As Halloween is fast approaching, we would like to remind everyone of some safety tips while out and about Halloween night. We've also included links to social stories below, to read to your children. Social stories can be an amazing tool to use with individual students, and/or for whole class instruction on routines and expectations. They are also great resources for families to use at home to prepare children for unfamiliar, new experiences.

Safety tips for parents and children while Trick or Treating:

  1. Only visit houses with lights on

  2. Only accept candy at the door-never go inside their home

  3. Stay with your parent or group

  4. Use face make up versus wearing a mask, as masks can hinder a child’s eyesight

  5. Use flashlights while out walking

  6. Use reflective tape on costumes for pedestrians/cars to see you coming

  7. Be cautious around any animals, especially dogs, and do not pet without asking

  8. Walk only on the sidewalks not in the street, do not cut across yards or streets

  9. Parents should dispose of any unwrapped/open candy as well as choking hazards

  10. Dispose of any candy brands that seem unfamiliar to you

  11. Children should know an emergency contact number to call whether it's a landline or cellphone, as well as 911, if necessary

Fun First Therapy wishes everyone a happy and safe Halloween!

I hope you enjoyed these "funtastic" tips,
