Tips to Ease Your Child's Back-to-School Anxiety
Starting a new school year is exciting, but it's also normal for children to feel a little
nervous. These simple tips can help make the transition easier.

Ease Back into a Routine
A week or two before school starts, begin adjusting bedtimes and wake-up times. Limiting screen time before bed can also help your child get the rest they need.
Stay Positive
Children often take their cues from the adults around them. If you're feeling anxious, model healthy ways to cope and focus on the positive aspects of returning to school.
Visit the School
Attend an open house or stop by to find your child's classroom before the first day. If your child has significant anxiety, let the school know so staff can provide extra support.
Talk About Their Feelings
Let your child know it's okay to feel nervous. Encourage them to share their worries and help them come up with a simple plan, such as talking to a trusted adult, using positive self-talk, or finding a friend to play with at recess.
With a little preparation, patience, and encouragement, you can help your child feel more confident and ready for a successful start to the school year.
